Just for fun

Odds and ends-personal artistic expressions

I love to make beaded jewelry. I got into it a few years ago and decided that since I wanted to pierce my ears and create my own jewelry, it was a way of expressing my creative talent and to "just have fun".

I found a bead store not far from where my son I moved to after leaving his dad and half-sister. I spent some time and money there with him. He was fascinated by the magnetic clasps and liked the silver AND gold ones to be put together. Very innovative. My son; about age 8 at the time, made a beautiful necklace for me. Really. He asked me to cut the length and put on the clasp and he designed and perfectly and most symmetrically created a beautiful necklace. It has lots of black "plastic" beads, some agates (red) and silver spacers. I realized that he was serious in his attempt to make me a piece of jewelry that I would be wear SO I  made sure that he had some "nicer" beads and gemstones. This one has some has some black with gold speck focal beads and a few round carnelian.
The necklace that my son made for me; he was always so proud
when I wore it and would tell everyone that he made it for me.
The first piece of jewelry that I made and gave as a gift to my sister.
I made matching heart dangle earrings.
I "got orders" for more but never followed up on it.

This NEW YEAR'S "odds and ends" Memory wire bracelet was made with whimsy. I had a Whitman's Chocolate box FULL of "odds and ends" and decided; that like my life, that I was going to make something beautiful out of the "scraps"...and I did.

A pearl is a beautiful thing that is produced by an injured life.
It is the tear [that results] from the injury of the oyster.
The treasure of our being in this world is also produced by an injured life.
If we had not been wounded, if we had not been injured,
then we will not produce the pearl.

My Puppy

This is Moose
He is a nine week old Apricot black-faced English Mastiff PUPPY.
In this picture he weighs over 35 lbs

Moose is really as sweet and as loving and as FEROCIOUS as he looks.
He is the gentlest "giant" puppy that I have EVER met. He loves other animals such as smaller dogs, cats and tropical birds. He is a little intimidated by a neighbourly Italian Mastiff who is not quite as large as we expect him to reach. We are expecting him to weigh OVER 250 lbs upon maturity.

Right now, he sleeps like a human baby; plays for a short while
and then naps for an hour or two.
He seems to be "vocal" and talks, yelps and sometimes playfully "growls".
He is a good natured and very intelligent "boy".
I have never raised a dog from a pup before; let alone a LARGE puppy
which will grow into a LARGE dog.
He is the newest addition of my family.

UPDATE: (Feb. 2013)
Moose at 10 months old...about 140 lbs.
